GALA ORGAN/CHORAL/ORCHESTRAL CONCERT TO BE SEASON FINALE

Sunday, July 22

Rodman Center for the Arts, Ripon College

3:00 PM:  Organ Recital by Stephen Alltop

4:00 PM:  Choral Celebration Concert

Tickets will be available at the door or by calling the Festival at 920-748-9398 or 1-800-662-7097.  One ticket admits you to both the organ recital and choral concert.

Three fabulous vocalists from the Chicago area will join music director Stephen Alltop, the Green Lake Festival Chorus and a professional orchestra in a program entitled "Take Flight:  A celebration of the Genius of Handel and Nature's Splendor".

Multitalented Stephen Alltop will open the afternoon with an organ recital of works by North German masters J.S. Bach and Vincent Lubeck at 3 PM on Ripon College's Baroque-style organ.  An accomplished keyboard soloist, as well as both choral and orchestral conductor, Alltop has appeared with such orchestras as the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Omaha Symphony and at the Ravinia Festival.

At 4 PM, immediately following the organ recital, Alltop will conduct the Festival Choir, orchestra and three soloists in music that celebrates the Festival's summer theme, "Inspired by Nature."  The program is a summer delight, comprising famous choruses of Handel, three songs inspired by birdsong, and such American favorites as Shenandoah, Deep River, Cindy, and a salute to George Gershwin.

Appearing as soloists in the concert are soprano Michelle Areyzaga, whose experience ranges from jazz to opera and from Oxford, England to Chicago's Ravinia and Grant Park festivals; mezzo soprano Emily Hull, who was recently named a finalist in the 2005 Metropolitan Opera national Council Auditions; and baritone Ken Mattice, a native of Regranite, WI who the Chicago Tribune called an "outstanding baritone" and who will sing Escamillo in Carmen at the Ravinia Festival in August.
